In celebrating Africa Day 2025, Society for Africans in the Diaspora is partnering with Òrékê Curated Market for a 3-day Africa Day Bazaar. from May 23rd – May 25th at SAiD INSTITUTE. The Pop Up Shop is perfect for Houston designers, fashion creatives, retailers, models, and fashion students, and anyone else keen to be in the know. A place to shop unique fits, accessories, and home goods from local artisans.

Fashion is a powerful tool for self-expression and exploration of cultural identity. It allows us to showcase our heritage, values, and beliefs through the clothes we choose to wear. The Pop-up Shop will include standout pieces featuring immersive displays of haute couture and ready-to-wear apparel. The shop will reflect both the diversity of designs from the African continent and the rich trans-Atlantic tradition of African descendants. You don’t want to miss this!

This year #AfricaDay is all about the wealth of Knowledge and promising opportunities in African fashion. In a few weeks, designers, stylists, and distinguished minds will come together, united in excellence. The pop-up will include panel discussions, cultural events, a curated marketplace, and opportunities for meaningful dialogue and collaboration among leaders, thinkers, and creatives across the Diaspora. The panel discussion serves as a platform for emerging and established African and Diaspora designers to showcase their creations, but also sheds light on the challenges and opportunities within the African fashion industry. The conversation will spotlight how African designers contribute to a broader conversation about the global recognition and appreciation of African fashion talent. Showcasing a dazzling array of garments alongside music, visual art, and much more. The African Fashion Pop Up Shop and Conversation will be a testament to the beauty, diversity, and cultural significance of African fashion.
